WAIHI HOUSE

This site demanded a unique design approach to take advantage of the incredible rural views to the south while ensuring light and heat was still obtained from the north. Two gable wings feature guest accomodation in one and a master suite in the other. The gable wings are grounded with the use of solid concrete walls. A connecting central open living plan space features a courtyard to the south and a courtyard to the north - the use each dictated by the winds.
